Swimming

Swimming started in week 5.  Room 2 swims with Room 18 on Tuesdays and Fridays, and in most sessions we infuse Science into our Swimming programme.

We handed around some big blocks of ice.  They were very cold (of course), but also quite heavy - people had to estimate how well they would float.  Then we tried it out!

We ran around and around the sides of the pool and then floated in the whirlpool we had made of the water.  We were surprised to find how hard it was to turn around and walk the other way, against the current.

We tried to find as many things as we could to safely float in the water as we swam.

We were surprised to find how loud our voices sounded when we spoke through a balloon.

Then we tried to see if our voices sounded louder under the water, but it was very difficult to sit on the bottom of the pool with a balloon to find out - we are too good at floating!
